e-Resources Usage Policy

  1. Electronic resources such as e-journals, e-databases made available by the Central Library, NIT, Hamirpur for academic use only.
  2. These resources can be searched, browsed and material may be downloaded and printed as single copies of articles however downloading or printing of an entire issue or a volume of one or more journals (called systematic downloading) is strictly prohibited.
  3. Use of robots, spiders or intelligent agents to access, search and/or systematically download from these resources is also prohibited.
  4. Please be aware that systematic downloading will cause the publisher to block to the entire community of users @ NIT, Hamirpur from accessing these resources.

The general principles for using e-Resources are as under:

  • Viewing, downloading, copying, printing and saving a copy of search results.
  • Viewing, downloading, copying, printing and saving individual articles.
  • Using e-resources for scholarly, educational or scientific research, teaching, private study and clinical purposes.
  • Sending a copy of an article to another authorized user (i.e. Faculty, Students or Staff of NIT, Hamirpur).
  • Posting the URL to the publisher's version of the article on a class website (publisher links will allow only authorized users access).
  • Use of robots or intelligent agents to do systematic, bulk or automatic downloading is not permitted.
  • Systematic downloading or printing of entire journal issues or volumes, or large portions of other e-resources is not permitted.
  • Using e-resources for commercial gain is not permitted (i.e. reselling, redistributing or republishing licensed content).
  • Transmitting, disseminating or otherwise making online content available to unauthorized users (i.e. sending to mailing lists or electronic bulletin boards) is not permitted.
  • Posting the publisher's version or PDF of an article to an open class website is not permitted (instead, post the URL to the article which will allow only authorized users access).

J-Gate@e-SodhSindhu

J-Gate is a single point search engine to search the e-Journals subscribed by CFTIs and Open Access e-Journals.It provides three different layers of searching (Library, Consortia or Favourite). The functionalities like Basic Search, Journal Finder, Author Finder, Advanced Search and Search Results will be common for all the three layers of searching.The user can toggle between the three layers while using these functionalities.

  1. Library Layer: The user can search within the library subscribed journals and download the full text of the article. He can also view the articles from journals available only in print in his institution’s library.
  2. Consortia Layer: The user can search within the consortia subscribed journals, download the full text articles or request for the articles from other libraries within the consortia.
  3. Personal Layer: The user can create his own personalized profile and search within a set of chosen journals.

JSTOR (Journal Storage)

JSTOR is a digital library founded in 1995. Originally containing digitized back issues of academic journals, it now also includes books and primary sources, and current issues of journals. It provides full text searches of almost 2,000 journals. More than 8,000 institutions in more than 160 countries have access to JSTOR.

ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Digital Library

ACM, the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. It provides Full text of every article ever published by the Association for Computing Machinery and bibliographic citations from major publishers in computing.

ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers)

The American Society of Civil Engineers represents more than 145,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 174 countries. Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest engineering society. ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)

Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is the premier professional membership organization for more than 127,000 mechanical engineers and associated members worldwide. ASME also conducts one of the world's largest technical publishing operations in the world, offering thousands of titles including some of the profession's most prestigious journals, conference proceedings, and ASME Press books.

ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)

ASTM is a standards development organization that serves as an open forum for the development of international standards. Economic and Political Weekly

The Economic and Political Weekly, published from Mumbai, is an Indian institution which enjoys a global reputation for excellence in independent scholarship and critical inquiry. EPW has remained a unique forum that week after week has brought together academics, researchers, policy makers, independent thinkers, members of non-governmental organisations and political activists for debates straddling economics, politics, sociology, culture, the environment and numerous other disciplines.

Emerald Group Publishing

Emerald's specialist collections in fields such as Engineering, Information and Knowledge Management, Operation Logistics and Quality, Education, Library Studies and Marketing offering focused international research in a range of subject fields. Its management collection features over 80,000 articles from over 200 titles. The collection continues to disseminate the latest thinking, from authors at 95 of the Financial Times Top 100 business schools and forms an essential part of the research library at most of these institutions.

IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)

IEEE publishes nearly a third of the world’s technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science, and electronics. This includes approximately 180 transactions, journals, and magazines published annually. In cooperation with John Wiley and Sons, Inc., IEEE also produces technical books, monographs, guides, and textbooks. IEEE journals are consistently among the most highly cited in electrical and electronics engineering, telecommunications, and other technical fields. The IEEE Xplore Digital Library contains more than 3.5 million documents from IEEE and IEEE journals, transactions, magazines, letters, conference proceedings, and active IEEE standards.

ISID (Institute for Studies in Industrial Development)

The Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), successor to the Corporate Studies Group (CSG), is a national-level policy research organization in the public domain and is affiliated to the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Developing on the initial strength of studying India's industrial regulations, ISID has gained varied expertise in the analysis of the issues thrown up by the changing policy environment. ISID has developed databases on various aspects of the Indian economy, particularly concerning industry and the corporate sector. It has created On-line Indexes of Indian Social Science Journals (OLI) and Press Clippings on diverse social science subjects. These have been widely acclaimed as valuable sources of information for researchers studying India's socio-economic development.

Nature

Focusing on the needs of scientists, Nature (founded in 1869) is the leading weekly, international scientific journal. Nature is published by Nature Publishing Group (NPG), a publisher of high impact scientific and medical information in print and online. NPG publishes journals, online databases, and services across the life, physical, chemical and applied sciences and clinical medicine.

Oxford University Press (OUP) publishes the highest quality journals and delivers this research to the widest possible audience. We achieve this by working closely with our society partners, authors, and subscribers in order to provide them with publishing services that support their research needs.

Science Direct

ScienceDirect is home to almost one-quarter of the world's peer-reviewed full-text scientific, technical and medical content. Over 15 million researchers, health care professionals, teachers, students and information professionals around the globe rely on ScienceDirect as a trusted source of over 2,500 journals. ScienceDirect supports research and education with interactive elements in articles such as audio, video, graphs, tables and images, and offers tools so users can keep current with research trends. Content on ScienceDirect also features embedded links to external datasets, including earth and environmental science data.

Springer Link

SpringerLink is the world's most comprehensive online collection of scientific, technological and medical journals, books and reference works. SpringerLink offers electronic and printed literature from Springer-Verlag, a preeminent scientific publisher with a reputation for excellence spanning more than 150 years. It also offers the work of a growing roster of publishers, including Urban and Vogel, Steinkopff, and Birkhäuser.

Web of Science

Web of Science (previously known as (ISI) Web of Knowledge) is an online subscription-based scientific citation indexing service maintained by Thomson Reuters that provides a comprehensive citation search. It gives access to multiple databases that reference cross-disciplinary research, which allows for in-depth exploration of specialized sub-fields within an academic or scientific discipline

World eBook Library

The World Library Foundation is the world's largest collection of Books and Articles in electronic format. Founded in 1996, the World Library Foundation is a global coordinated effort to preserve and disseminate digital facsimiles of historical books, classic works of literature, serials, bibliographies, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other heritage works in a number of languages and countries around the world.
